Money Resources I Love

Financial Experts

Suze Orman is one of my favorite financial gurus. Her straight-talking approach takes the mystery out of money. She reminds us to put people first, then money, then things - great financial advice.

Jill Schlesinger, CFP® has experience as a financial advisor and journalist. Her passion for helping people understand personal finance is inspiring.

Jean Chatzky has been studying people and money for more than two decades. She believes that anyone who is willing to learn can manage their money successfully, and brings a healthy dose of humor and reality to her work.

David Bach's Finish Rich series provides simple wealth-building advice for women and couples. David takes a values-based approach to personal finance, and I agree with him that putting your money towards the things you value creates real wealth.

The Snowball: Warren Buffett and the Business of Life, by Alice Schroeder. This book isn't about personal finance specifically, but it provides an astounding look into one of the greatest financial minds in business today. Buffett's "focus on the basics" approach to investing and building wealth is incredibly powerful.

The Millionaire Next Door: The Surprising Secrets of America's Wealthy, by Thomas J. Stanley and William D. Danko. Reading this book will change the way you think about wealth creation. The authors studied the behaviors of millionaires, and conclude that a status lifestyle is one of the biggest hindrances to real wealth.

NPR Planet Money says it all in their brief description: The economy, explained, with stories and money. I think you'll enjoy their reporting, which is served up with everyday language and bite-sized episodes (10 - 20 minutes each).

Better off with Jill Schlesinger is a high-quality, no-nonsense podcast that typically features a finance-related guest and (my favorite) call-in questions from listeners, sponsored by Betterment.

HerMoney with Jean Chatzky is a lovely blend of interesting, inspiring guests and money Q&A. Her visitors are diverse and focus on both money and self-improvement. The podcast is sponsored by Fidelity.

Remember: I will never write content that is sponsored, so any recommendations I provide are mine and mine alone!
